Count me in pal, I can conribute my big black mini-van for transportation, my expensive yet never used tripod and recently "graduated" self as a tool of many video production uses.
Lewis.
I really love cool runnings, but I especially like this scene as it is a great example of Neuro-Linguistic Programming within a film. Thi scene easily represents the re-framing phrase "Perception is Projection.

As a student at Stevenson College Edinburgh (SCE), my journey has taken me through an NQ, HNC and HND in Creative Industries. The initial focus of my attending the college was to learn more about how to form my own creative scripts, direct films and - my main passion at the time – to learn about camera operation. I am currently taking time out from education and preparing for a degree course to continue my learning of the television industry and to help achieve my desired outcome of a role, camera work or creative writing, within this industry. I have a keen interest in sports, films and human behaviour. In my spare time I enjoy reading on philosophy by Sartre and self improvement using Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP).
During the HND at SCE, I took on a brief given to us as part of our major projects at the end of the year. I created a 15 min factual documentary that was to be pitched to the producers & funded by the college. At that time, I had completed a NLP Practitioner course in London & I’m fully qualified as an NLP Practitioner after my involvement with this field of ‘alternate therapy’, ‘goal setting’ and human behaviour. It only made sense to me to create my major project on this subject as the question I got asked a lot was “What is NLP?” - hence this was also the simplistic title for my factual documentary. I have since utilized what I have learned as an NLP practitioner within my own work in filmmaking. Working within a small group for projects at SCE was a constant for me and building good physical and mental rapport with the colleagues in my team has been a key success factor in how I approach my film shoots. I shot “What is NLP?” with a team of two. I had arranged shoots and interviews by researching NLP seminars in Scotland. Good rapport was vital when effectively corresponding with potential resources to get all footage that I had aimed for in my script - which was designed to educate those whom had never heard of NLP.
I have worked as a part time support worker for people with disabilities during the past 4 years & this field of employment has also led me to create a college documentary on Down’s syndrome called “Down 2 Earth”. My main aim was addressing some of the assumptions made regarding people with this disability. I have also collaborated with Edinburgh City Youth Cafe to help with a short film on the dangers of alcohol abuse at a young age. I was in charge of directing young offenders to act in a film they had written with my help. Helping others less fortunate has been a recurring theme in my film making of recent and I have found this to be mentally rewarding as well as positively challenging. I’m frequently looking for ways I can improve my performance as a filmmaker via feedback from my peers.
My five top films are:
1. Lost in Translation.
2. The Science of Sleep.
3. Cool Runnings.
4. Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind.
5. Pulp Fiction
Hey Lewis! It may well be the case that you'll be busy with other projects, but I thought I'd make you aware of the initial 'feeling things out/early days' phase for the next MM production. You can view the post on the discussion forum by clicking here. I should be boring and stress that no immediate action is planned, and that this is just me trying to gauge interest levels. Cheers!
Looking forward to your minor shoot, Lewis me old chum. I pitched me own minor idea to the class and was thought to have "Commanded the room" according to Fraser. It was a good experience.
Perhaps we could arrange some time during the next few weeks to do some brainstorming of ideas - perhaps eventually get something filmed as an option for both our showreels.
Any feedback on how I can make it clearer would be much appreciated. Basically MUCKi is just something people can use to make their own pages. Like a Wiki.
