Hi. I've been wondering about GarageBand for a while now - it seems pretty awesome, but noticed you knocking it in the mediamuppet newsletter billy. any real reason for that? i was looking into getting a mac (and furthermore, garageband). Cheers.
GarageBand is lovely - it's just annoying the amount of people who use it and then pretend it's 100% their own work. It's usually pretty easy to spot a typical GarageBand track a mile away though anyway.
Great for 'making' tunes, but tunes a monkey could make, also. Not to discredit it, as GarageBand can be pretty advanced too - not to mention useful and fun. But if you're wanting to make serious e-music, which takes a bit of skill, patience and musical know-how (sounding a whole lot better and more 'yours' in the end), then you're better off with Reason or FL Studio. In my opinion.
But Billy the same could be said about reason. You hear so many track that you can tell were written with reason. what i do like about reason thought is when you run it through re-wire and use cuebase and reason together, as both programs have there pro's and con's.
I think that garage band is a good program for some one who is just starting out on midi systems. they can get a feel for it and then progress on to better programs if they wish
